Is ChatEZ really free?
Yes. No ads and no paid tiers. If you want to help, you can support the project on Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee, but every feature stays free.
Who makes ChatEZ?
ChatEZ is an independent product made by James Smith. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of the streaming services it connects to.
Which streaming platforms does it work with?
Twitch today. Kick, YouTube and others are under consideration, and you can tell us which ones matter to you on the Platforms page.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows for now.
Do I need to be a moderator to use it?
No. ChatEZ is a full chat client for anyone. Moderator tools appear in channels where your account is a moderator.
Does ChatEZ see my password?
No. You sign in through the streaming platform’s own login page, and ChatEZ only receives the permissions you approve there.
Does ChatEZ decide who gets banned?
No. ChatEZ surfaces signals, such as first messages, new accounts, watched chatters and highlight matches, so you can take a closer look. You decide what happens, and you can turn on target confirmation before actions.
Does ChatEZ record chat?
Only if you ask it to. Recording is opt-in and per channel, stored locally on your computer, and covers what ChatEZ observed. It is not a backfill from the platform or a complete stream archive.
What do the dashboard numbers cover?
They describe the chat ChatEZ has retained or recorded on your computer, not complete historical totals from the platform.
Where do the emotes come from?
Platform emotes, plus 7TV, BTTV and FFZ, are loaded live from those services, the same as other chat clients. ChatEZ does not host or own them.
I found a bug or have an idea. Where do I send it?
Use the Feedback page, or open an issue on GitHub. Including your ChatEZ version helps a lot.
